Taking the day off to meet friends in Orchard Road is a good thing

We need a stronger voice for our domestic helpers who are treated unfairly behind closed doors. We can't save the world but laying one brick at a time builds a solid house.

sweets from my sweet

I love splitting dessert with you too, Christine!

What type of dessert would you, and you, and you like to split with me? Drop me a comment!

in dark times, have yourself a donut and a cuppa kaw-fee

the wedding night

It was really a lovely celebration.
And i couldn't be happier for the happy couple.

Did the bride blush, check.
Did the groom grin ear to ear like a 4D winner, check.
Did the couple's friends get up to mischief at their respective tables, check.

But the best moment was congratulating the beaming parents of these two blissful punks. It was after all their special night too.

psychotic behavior

Sometimes it's challenging to live with difficult people. It bugs me when i give a courteous greeting that is not reciprocated. It irks me when I'm told to turn the power off when i forget a minuscule fraction of the time. It angers me when effort to be nice is ignored and unappreciated.

But 10 minutes away from you, sweetheart, makes it worth the s***.

an intimate weekend

My girlfriend of 10 years is getting married on Saturday. I can't wait to see old friends, or family as they are to me. My old comrades who were well-versed in the art of copying chines spelling tests and warriors in captain ball tournaments.

And on Sunday, the monologue ends at 3pm. I'm looking forward to hear about the kittens and bees....

Age

When i think about how much I've aged in the past 1 and a 1/2 years, it kills me. Eyes once unlined with worry are now bloated with fatigue and water retention. Late nights tossing and turning. My eyes are constantly boring into the invisible future, wondering, thinking, contemplating. F has aged alongside me...my ever eye-pleasing Butch Cassidy to this inner Sundance Kid. But....

I don't know or what we can do to feel youthful and unburdened again. Something tells me this isn't right, this mindless routine of running around the money wheel day in and day out. It's insane.

Forget SKII, fresh cucumbers and what have yous. The secret to happiness is lying in bed at 1am and 1pm without a single care in the world. Somehow I don't think we can afford this luxury in the near future.

Please excuse my banal negativity, but some days you just wonder how we got from Point A of wild abandonment to Point B of no return....

The pulsating rhythm of India's heartbeat grows louder in my ears.

Monday blues

Back to work after three glorious days of rest.
This is what I've on my To-Do list for the coming months:

1. Take up a new sport?

2. Buy a proper coiled mattress and head-support pillow

3. Keep dreaming about splurging on a new handphone

3 months to 2010. At least that's something realistic I can look forward to.

Hotboys Kelong, Sibu Malaysia

My dad, my boyfriend's brother and their friends are fishing enthusiasts. Over the weekend, we took a break from city life at the charming Hotboys Kelong in the the South China Sea where we fished, slept, ate and baked in the sun.

My favourite part of the trip was the journey up. The entire town was asleep as we drove through Johor Bahru. The soft morning sun and dawn's mist cast a romantic glow on the lush palm plantations as we winded through the roads. Oh, to have fresh air fill my lungs once more.

Rightly impressed by SMU

This post is a little delayed after International Peace Day, but better late than never I say. Talented artists from Singapore Management University proudly unveiled their interpretations of world peace in this art exhibition which is running from 19th Sept - 19th Oct.

Declare Your Vote

American politics may seem like a freaking circus show right now, but you gotta hand it to the entertainment industry for pulling their weight.

My Favourite Things - Redux

These are a few of my favourite things...

I bought this key holder in Jonker Street. The lone boat framed in a backdrop of blue skies and seagulls calms me and sets the mood for the day....

Mr. Skeweton that F succumbed to me. I won him hands down in arm wrestling. Hence the saying, "i'd give an arm and a leg for this", no offence to said favourite Mister. ..

I ciphoned this ice cream tub from a party. At the moment, it houses my hangar clips but perhaps one day I'll reuse it for ice cream. Tigress, to it's right, is my femme fatale.

A vintage Christmas tin that stores my Everday Minerals...

My three little pigs that saw the sand, sea and the best of 2006....

My wardrobe, bursting full of fashion goodness...

and last but not least, my pile of Everyday Mineral makeup --- pretty by the dozen. Check out www.farrahdiba.blogspot.com, she got me hooked and I'm not letting go...

What are some of your favourite things?

Eid Mubarak

My girdle is bursting. We greedily tore into the cookies as early as 9pm last night. Caught 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours as we vacuumed, mopped, and laid out the fine china. I've consumed at least two jars worth of assorted deep-fried tapioca chips, chocolate chip cookies, pineapple tarts, kueh bankit, kueh lapis and nutella rolls alone. Ff..aa..cc..kkk. I proudly reclaimed the girl's definition of pigging out today. Did i mention second helpings of rendang, lontong and sambal chicken? My body is a temple indeed....But I'm happy. Harmonious living © (miss bee) suits me well indeed...

Selamat Hari Raya to the world.
